Book Review – New Business Networking: How to Effectively Grow Your Business Network Using Online and Offline Methods

One of the areas I struggle with is networking with others. I realize that this is holding back my business. Once I make a connection, I tend to do quite well; however, it is the initial contact that I struggle with. Any advice I can get on the subject, I try to devour. I was, therefore, glad to come upon this book by Dave Delaney called New Business Networking: How to Effectively Grow Your Business Network Using Online and Offline Methods. Book Review: #AskGaryVee

I knew about Gary Vaynerchuk because of a number of podcasts that regularly drop his name in conversation. I had not personally read any of his work nor watched any of his YouTube presentations. Reading #AskGaryVee: One Entrepreneur’s Take on Leadership, Social Media, and Self-Awareness* was my first earnest look at Gary Vaynerchuk. I am a fan. If you look at the name of his book, you can see a glimpse of his cleverness. #AskGaryVee will automatically show up on all social media channels as a unique hashtag. Wicked smart. If you are writing for your business, non-profit, or personal site, you need to read Content Rules: How to Create Killer Blogs, Podcasts, Videos, Ebooks, Webinars (and More) That Engage Customers and Ignite Your Business*. If you are creating video content, writing a blog, posting on social media, or hosting a podcast, you need to read this book. I consider this a must reading for all the organizations and colleges I have been a part of. Ann Handley and C.C. Book Review – Booked: The Digital Marketing and Social Media Appointment Setting System for Anyone Looking for a Steady Stream of Leads, Appointments and New Clients

While waiting for an individual to arrive for an appointment, I had a couple of hours to kill so I read Josh Turner’s Booked: The Digital Marketing and Social Media Appointment Setting System for Anyone Looking for a Steady Stream of Leads, Appointments and New Clients*. I really enjoyed it, even though I was reading it on my phone. Turner basically explained his process for increasing the number of new clients. In the book, he outlined a 5-step system for lead generation and client acquisition. I thought he did a solid job. Book Review: The YouTube Marketing Book

A number of podcasts I listen to featured James Wedmore talk about better marketing through YouTube. Because of these discussions, I was interested in learning more so I was happy to find his book, The YouTube Marketing Book*. Wedmore has managed to develop a rather lucrative business creating, distributing, and marketing YouTube videos. Because I want to better help small business owners use social media to include video, I had to find out more.  While this was not the best book I had read on producing videos, this book did provide a lot good information about marketing YouTube videos and I recommend it to others.
